Exploring Our Nation's Capital Each year, the 8th grade graduating class travels to Washington D.C. to take in all the major sightseeing spots in our nation’s capital. The trip usually includes a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, a tour of the Capitol Building and the Library of Congress, and visits to Mt. Vernon, the Lincoln, Jefferson, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorials, the Holocaust Museum, the World War II, Vietnam, and Marine Corps Memorials, the Smithsonian Museums, the Newseum and the National Geographic Museum. Last year’s class also enjoyed attending a Washington Nationals baseball game and a dinner dance cruise on the Potomac River. Students also attend Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
