On Saturday, September 28th, Rev. Stephen Donohoe blessed the new Saint Catherine of Siena School (SCS) playground that opened in September to SCS students. After the blessing, the SCS HAWK mascot cut the ribbon and officially opened the playground for students of the school to enjoy. An SCS Kindergarten student said that this was “the best playground ever and worth the wait!” SCS parishioner and parent, Mrs. Mary Hofmann noted that the playground has become “a bright spot for all our children to enjoy the fall air!” SCS Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Marina Halabi said, “Recess time is definitely a time to look forward to.” Parishioners and parents of two students at SCS, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Woodard, feel that “having opportunities to be active during the day is an important part of learning…and is a great investment for the school.”

Thank you to Mrs. Linda Canniff from the Saint Catherine of Siena Parish for planning not only the ceremony but working with SCS faculty, staff and local vendors to create the playground itself. Following the playground blessing and ribbon-cutting, families from SCS gathered for a Welcome Back Mass and BBQ to kick off the 2019/2020 school year. It was a great evening for the entire SCS community to come together and celebrate Saint Catherine of Siena School! Special thanks go to all of the SCS parents who helped to make it happen.
